Journey to komodo island and several distinct places in Indonesia in recent years have given me a new perspective of life. There was this one time when I came back from a short trip to Bangka island and showed some photographs taken there to a friend, I asked him “isn’t it beautiful?” while showing a photo of a humble lady washing her pile of clothes by the river.

His spontaneous response quite shocked me as he said “you must have lost your mind to call this photograph beautiful with your story of how amazing the trip was. A photo of a place in Europe or other places of wonders in the world would be more like it. “this wake up call made me realize that it is was not the world would that has changed, but instead it was my perspective of the world that was changing.

And now, from time to time I frequently travel to places around my home country in the Indonesia archipelago and one recent trip was to this Komodo island where I knew that it is was somehow a calling for me and from that moment on, my life will never be the same again.

Through this book I wish to share that “perspective” along with a sincere prayer for the conservation of the island. I dedicate this book and the sales proceeds from it to all of God’s wonderful creations on the island specifically to the children with a hope that it would be a small contribution from a child of this archipelago.
