The Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat is awere that many parties who are not sufficiently familier with or who have not kept abreast of the historical background, the integration process and the growth of east Timor at the present time, wil easly fall prey to the activities of propaganda and the spread of unrealitic information by those who do not appreciate the exercise of the right of the East Timorese people to self-determination through their integration to the Republic of Indonesia

The purpose of the publication of this book is to provide a true picture of the present-day East Timor which had been subjected to a long period of Portuguese colonization prior to its integration to the Republic of Indonesia.
